I can now see what’s coming up, what is making progress and what’s ready to be paid and on time. Now, when bills are due for the month or a goal is not yet reached, colors enhance the experience so everything is much more visually appealing. And, oh my gosh, I’m not even joking here. Actually, I was fine with this, until… Now things are color-coded and make it so much easier and more fun to budget. Don’t get me wrong… this never made me upset with the software, or like it any less. Budgeting was still easy enough and straightforward but it could become a bit blah. Everything was just plain and one color before. Now notes look better, are in one nice place on the web app and they’re also with us on our phone (which they were not before). We used notes before, to help us remember something for each category as needed. We can also see this in the mobile app, on the go. Now we can set actual goals targeting each category we like and see the progress beautifully tracked for each category and see how long we have left to reach that goal, including how much money we need. And it wasn’t hard to simply divide the amount by the months and put so much back. Saving money (or Rule 2) was always about putting so much money back towards larger, less-frequent expenses… and it still is.
#Ynab 4 vs. nynab update
Now we just update the budget on the phone and it’s instant across the board. (Sure, we could have just recorded it in a different category but that would make no sense at all). Before, if we recorded spending in a category and ended up in the red we would have to wait until we get home to adjust things in the software. Overspending on the go is no longer a problem.
#Ynab 4 vs. nynab download
Instead we just download the mobile app, log in and there’s the budget. Neither one of us needed to download Dropbox on our phone just to load our budget.Since we’ve been using the new version (which we’ve had now for several weeks) we’ve seen a dramatic change in our financial situation.
#Ynab 4 vs. nynab software
My heart was always into wanting to use the software to budget but we just didn’t stay on top of it a whole lot. My wife and I have not always kept up with our budget on previous versions of YNAB. My personal opinion on the new YNAB and experience thus far: Now, besides the name just being called YNAB (for now) and besides a few of the rules changes, and besides the awesome new features and functionality (which I’m not fully diving into because you can find out more on the website), it’s a heck of a lot more fun to budget and keep track of your financial situation. Let me give you a little sneak peak dating back to YNAB 3, to 4, to now. Like, it looks a lot different than the old version. And I mean, really redesigned completely from the ground up.
Rule 2: Embrace Your True Expenses (formally known as ‘Save For a Rainy Day) The 4 Rules (slightly different now, but not by much)
Okay, getting to the point of why it’s so awesome. Well, I wrote about it here when I was using YNAB 4 and they have just launched the next version of the software, which is totally awesome! Okay… so what’s the big deal anyway, right? Don’t believe me? That’s totally fine because I’d only encourage you to go check it out for yourself like I’m doing right now. What is YNAB you ask? Only the absolute best, most awesome, spectacular and fun financial budgeting software you can possibly get your hands on! It’s been quite a while since I’ve posted anything worthwhile on here so I thought it was time to do just that, since I have something worthy of writing about.
